Healthcare is a challenging environment. Hospitals are competing among themselves to offer betterand reliable care to patients at an affordable cost. Hospital staffs are under tremendous pressure tokeep up the quality of care given to patients considering the ever increasing population of aging andeven more complex cases utilizing the limited resources at their disposal. Vitals of critical patientsneed to be monitored and recorded constantly at every stage of their treatment cycle. This means a lotof manual effort to be vigil at all times and human presence is required to monitor and managerpotential emergencies that can build up at any point of time. Some of the patient vitals are so criticalto be acted upon in real time that any variation’s that may go unnoticed would result in failure in earlyadministering of preventive measures
Tranquility Wireless Bed Side Monitor adaptor, is a wireless adaptor that operates over Zigbee or Wi-Fi. Our adaptor can convert any Bed Side Monitors with RS232 port to a smart device. When our BSM adaptor is plugged in and configured to each make and model, the adaptor will extract data pertaining to the patient vitals from the monitor and push the same wirelessly to the central server. It is a highly modular wireless device that could be powered from either micro USB or Type A male ports leaving no additional wires hanging around to power the device. BSM Adaptor is attached directly to RS-232 female port of the BSM. The device could stream data as per the pattern of data flow from the connected bedside monitor to remote server. Device can either leverage existing Wi-Fi backbone infrastructure or a secure Zigbee based backbone network can be built using Tranquility IoT backbone devices like routers and gateways.
Data so received from the bed side monitors are then aggregated at the central server and alerts are displayed on the dashboards in ICUs, nursing stations and other locations where health workers can respond incase of an emergency. Our Android based application also gives doctors and team members the capability to review patient vitals at any point of time. They also receive alerts in case of an emergency in the form of alarms and notifications. Such a system will facilitate seamlessly connected data, technology and people. Where ever you are in the world you should still be able to see your patient’s vital signs at a glance.
